Each third party payer has its own qualifying criteria for respiratory equipment reimbursement. You may reach out directly with your payer for its specific criteria or contact Medigas at 1-866-446-6302 for assistance.
In Ontario, medical equipment, such as a walker, bath bench or hospital bed, may be covered by Ontario Health atHome. Anyone with a valid Ontario Health Card may contact an OHaH to make a referral.
Equipment Purchase Questions
Is a referral or prescription needed to purchase medical equipment?
Does Medical Equipment need to purchased outright or can it be rented first?
If you have made a referral to your local Ontario Health atHome (Ontario) organization, you may be assessed to determine eligibility for the medical equipment loan program. Through this program, you would have access to a short-term (up to 30 days) equipment loan at no charge to you. If your need for this equipment exceeds beyond 30 days, you would be responsible to arrange and pay for the equipment.
What is the warranty period for new and gently-used equipment that has been purchased?
The warranty period for new equipment will follow the manufacturer’s warranty terms.
For gently used equipment, within the first 30 days of a client purchase of a hospital bed, specialty surfaces or patient lift, Medigas will service or replace the used item at no charge. If service is required after 30 days from date of purchase, a service fee will be applied. All other used equipment is sold as a Final Sale and in “as is” condition.
Is there an installation fee?
Certain items, such as grab bars, Superpoles and toilet safety frames will require being attached to the wall, ceiling & floor, or toilet fixture. Medigas will take caution not to damage any structure during installation and removal. A signed waiver is required prior to the installation of a Superpole. A delivery charge for small items may be applied.
Does Medigas buy back customer-owned equipment?
Due to product liability and health safety concerns, Medigas does not buy back customer-owned equipment.
