Tips to Help You Achieve Quality Sleep
Our bodies need quality sleep in order to function normally in the awake hours. Here are some helpful hints so you may sleep well:
- Allow yourself 20 minutes to fall asleep
- Avoid caffeine, alcohol and tobacco
- Avoid naps
- Don't oversleep
- Exercise moderately in the evening
- Follow a regular routine before bed
- Get up at the same time each morning
- Go to bed only when you are tired
- Sleep in a quiet, cool, dark room
- Unwind before bedtime
The sleep inducing benefits of drinking chamomile tea or warm milk before bedtime have long been shared anecdotally. It is suggested that regular use of sleeping pills be avoided as they can lose their effectiveness over time - consulting with your physician about their use is advisable.
